Description
This building is a barn or semi-industrial structure located about 5 metres south of Valence House. It likely dates from the early 17th century or earlier. The ground floor is made of galletted stone, while the first floor features timber framing. The west elevation is cement-rendered, and the south gable end is tile-hung. The barn has a plain tile roof and stands two storeys high on a galletted stone plinth, with a hipped roof. The east elevation includes three wood mullion windows with closely set diamond mullions. The north end bay has been added or rebuilt, and there are single-storey double doors in the centre of the east side. The interior has not been inspected. Originally, this barn was situated at the corner of Malthouse Lane and Rectory Lane and is now part of the grounds of Valence House.
