Description
This is a barn located to the northwest of Gournay Court, dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from sandstone rubble, with some brick detailing, and features a freestone oculus on the east gable end and a double Roman tile roof. The barn has a long eight-bay range facing a courtyard, which includes several 19th-century segmental-headed openings with plank doors and mounting steps on the right side. To the left, there are two large garage entrances. The right section of the barn has a six-bay layout with a butt-purlin, collar, and tie roof structure, supported by two wind braces at the west end. Inside, there is a plank partition in the easternmost bay and closely set lathing beneath the tiles, although many interior features have been significantly altered. Additionally, the curving roadside wall of the barn, which includes arrowslit openings, is an important element of the local streetscape.
