Description
Parsonage Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1642, as indicated by the overmantel in the wing that is set at right angles to the road. There is a later 17th century wing that runs parallel to the road. The building is constructed of rubble, which is colourwashed and rendered, with stone dressings and a double Roman tile roof. It has two storeys and features scattered fenestration.
The windows in the 1642 range include one three-light and one four-light chamfered wooden mullion with fixed panes, as well as a two-light ovolo mullion with a hoodmould on the roadside gable end. The later range has one three-light ovolo mullion on the ground floor and two two-light ovolo mullions on the upper floor. There is a lean-to porch at the angle of the two wings, which features a single light window next to the doorway that has a 19th century plank door. The farmhouse has three end brick stacks.
To the left, there is a one-storey addition that has a 20th century aluminium window, and on the west gable end, there is a reset medieval gargoyle. Inside, there is a Tudor arched fireplace in the ground floor room of the 1642 wing, along with a compartmented ceiling featuring moulded beams. A newel staircase is located in the southwest corner of the early range.
