Description

Linden House is an early 18th-century house, originally a house and shop, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. It may have a timber-frame construction. The front elevation is of red and grey brick, with red brick dressings. The left gable end is tile-hung on both floors. The roof is tiled, half-hipped to the left, and has two flat-roofed dormers. The house sits on a brick plinth with a stone base. The left half of the ground floor was formerly a shop window, and was rebuilt after 1956. A plat band runs around the building, and there is a moulded wooden eaves cornice that projects forward over the windows. A rear stack is located to the right. The front has a regular arrangement of five C19 glazing-bar sash windows in open boxes. The ground floor windows have segmental heads and keystones. The central door is of four fielded panels with two top lights, contained within a deep eared architrave with a pulvinated frieze and projecting moulded cornice. The interior has not been inspected. The property was formerly known as White House, as noted on Ordnance Survey maps.
