Description
This building is a barn located approximately 5 meters south of Gale Garth Farmhouse, likely dating from the 17th century, and has been altered and enlarged over time. It features coursed sandstone rubble at the lower level and random blue ragstone above, with quoins and a stone slate roof. The barn has a rectangular plan aligned on an east-west axis, with a lateral stone partition wall that was formerly the west gable. There are through-stones on three levels.
On the north side, the east end has a chamfered 2-light mullioned window at ground floor level, while the west end has a wide square-headed doorway and a square window above. The south side includes a shippon door and two windows at ground floor, along with a loading door above. Inside, the former west gable wall features a large chimney corbelled from the first floor level.
