Description

The building at 42 High Street, Sandgate, appears to have an 18th-century core with a mid-19th century facade. It is a three-storey stuccoed building with a hipped tiled roof and a parapet. A bracketed cornice runs along the top of the facade. A prominent three-light canted bay window extends through all three floors. The right side of the entrance doorcase is set back and features dimples. The rear elevation contains a two-storey section clad in weatherboard with a hipped tiled roof. The building forms part of a group with numbers 38 and 40 High Street, which are recognized as buildings of local interest.
