Description
Providence Inn is an 18th-century building located at 49 High Street in Sandgate. It is two storeys high and features weatherboarding with a tiled roof that has two hipped dormers. The building has a moulded eaves cornice and two sash windows with verticals only. On the ground floor, there is a 20th-century three-light canted bay window in the Georgian style, along with a large square bay that contains the doorcase. Some original cobblestones remain in front of the inn.
The inn is part of a group that includes Nos 23 to 39 (odd), a cottage to the rear of No 39, and Nos 41 to 65 (odd), including 43A, 45A, 55A, and 61A. Additionally, Nos 31 to 37 are considered buildings of local interest.
