Description

Nos 55 and 55A on High Street in Sandgate are two-storey buildings dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. They are constructed of painted brick and feature a hipped tiled roof with stone coping. The first floor includes a three-light canted bay window. The ground floor has an early 19th-century shopfront with four pilasters and fanlights, along with modern six-panelled doors. These buildings are part of a group that includes Nos 23 to 39 and 41 to 65, as well as Cottage to the rear of No 39 and Nos 43A, 45A, 55A, and 61A. Additionally, Nos 31 to 37 are recognized as buildings of local interest.
