The Ship Inn, located at 65 High Street in Sandgate, is a late 18th-century building with some alterations. It stands two storeys tall, with the adjacent buildings at 61 and 63 being stuccoed and featuring a modillion cornice, one window each, and one dormer each with sash windows. Number 61 has a brick false front added, which includes two sash windows, and has 19th-century shopfronts. The left side elevation has a sliding sash window. The Ship Inn itself has been altered and is a late 19th-century structure that rises three storeys, designed to resemble timber framing, with a gable that includes bargeboards, a finial, and pendants. It features a coved eaves cornice and a central projecting square bay.
