Description
No. 22 to 31 are five pairs of cottages built in the early 19th century by the office of George Dance, junior. They are constructed of brick and have thatched roofs. Each cottage is two storeys with an attic and features one bay that includes a camber-headed horizontal sliding sash window on each floor, with an eyebrow dormer above the upper window. Along the gable wall, there is a single-storey lean-to with a tiled roof, which has a similar window at the front and a door on the side, with some cottages featuring porches. The gable end has a string course at the level of the first-floor windows, a square buttress in the centre, and a small two-light casement at the top of the buttress. The roof is half-hipped and has a large ridge stack placed longitudinally with a significant offset head. The cottages each have small gardens enclosed by timber slatted fences, featuring clipped yews and trees.
