Description

Mill Cottages is a row of houses built in the early 19th century. The cottages are timber framed and weatherboarded, topped with a slate roof. They are arranged in a double-depth layout, featuring two storeys and attics, and have a rendered brick plinth. The roof is half-hipped with a gambrel shape, and there are four red and grey brick ridge stacks, two of which are located towards the center (with the one to the right of center being smaller), and one at each end. The rear of the building has three projecting brick stacks.

The cottages have seven flat-roofed dormers that contain two-light casements. The windows are arranged irregularly, with a total of seven: five are two-light paned casements and two are horizontally-sliding sashes, with only one window located at the right-central stack. On the ground floor, there are seven two-light paned casements, each featuring a plain frieze and a moulded cornice.

The doors also number seven, each with flat bracketed hoods. The first door, to the left end (No. 1), is half-glazed; No. 2 has flush panels; and No. 3, situated between Nos. 2 and 4, has a half-glazed and panelled design. No. 4 has a half-glazed and panelled door between two central stacks, while No. 5 has a flush panel door and No. 6 has another flush panel door, both located between the right-central and right stacks. Finally, No. 7, at the right end, features a half-glazed and boarded door. The interior of the cottages has not been inspected.
