Description

The Tickled Trout is a public house built in the 1840s, with an 18th-century section on the right. The exterior is pebbledashed, with the left gable end made of red and grey brick, and a plain tile roof. The building has two storeys, sitting on a rendered plinth, with the left section featuring higher eaves than the right. The left section has a gabled roof, with a brick eaves band and banded brick verges. The right section has a half-hipped roof to the right. There are two tall filleted red and grey brick stacks at the rear of the left section and one at the rear left wing, all with moulded plinths and corbelled capitals. A projecting red brick stack is located at the right gable end of the right section. The windows are arranged irregularly, with five casements in total: one two-light and two three-light in the left section, and one three-light and one four-light in the right section. The left end of the ground floor features a bay window. There is a half-glazed door with a segmental head towards the centre, another door towards the right end of the left section, and a boarded door towards the centre of the right section. At the back, there is a two-storey red and grey brick rear wing set back from the left gable end. The interior has not been inspected, but the building is included for its group value.
