Description

The garden railings, overthrow, and gates for No 98 are set back from the road and are framed by two pairs of square brick piers topped with stone caps. These piers are connected by a low brick wall that has stone coping and is recessed in a segmental shape between the groups of piers. The contemporary cast iron rails are supported under the bottom rail by iron balls, with standards that carry urn finials. In the center of this screen, there are cast iron gates featuring panel supports with an interlacing circle pattern and a four-centred curved overthrow that carries a campholder. There are some later extensions at the back of the property, which includes a large garden with fine trees. The design is possibly attributed to Henry Holland, the architect of Broadlands.
