Description

This is an early 19th-century building in The Hundred. It is a two-story structure built of painted brick, featuring a flat eaves cornice and a slate roof. The front has two windows on the first floor with a Gothic-style glazing pattern. The ground floor originally housed a shop, but the eastern section has been replaced with a small, skilfully constructed, canted oriel bay window. The remaining windows are sash windows with glazing bars in each light. A flight of three steps, flanked by an iron handrail with urn finials, leads to a central Georgian-style door with six fielded panels and a fanlight featuring rectangular tracery. The door is surrounded by panelled pilasters and a flat hood supported by shaped brackets. A single sash window is set within the reveals to the west. This building forms a group with numbers 47 to 55 (odd) and 70 to 84 (even) on Palmerston Street.
