Exterior: Low brick walls to the garden immediately in front of the house with iron railings with verticals of square section with elaborate spear finails ornamented with scrolls; similar design to garden gate. The gate piers flanking the gateway to the cottage are fluted columns with depressed bulbous finials, one is stamped Hill and Smith, Baterley Hill.
