Description

This milestone, dating from the late 18th century, is located 400 metres west of the entrance to Houghton Down Farm. It is made of painted stone and has a square section with a chamfered top edge set diagonally. One side of the stone displays the inscription '69 Miles to LONDON', while the opposite side reads '2 miles to STOCKBRIDGE'.
