Description
Drovers House is a house that was formerly a public house, dating from the 17th century but encased in the 18th century. It has a timber-frame core that is encased in brick, with bands and squares of flint, and features a thatched roof. The building has three bays and is one and a half stories tall. There is a planked door to the right of the center, an 18th-century Flight leaded casement window in the center, and a 19th-century two-light casement window in the left bay. Above the center, there is an 18th-century three-light leaded casement window in an eyebrow dormer, a 19th-century two-light casement window in an eyebrow dormer in the left bay, and two two-light casements in eyebrow dormers in the right bay. The roof is half-hipped and connects to a later cottage on the right, with a stack located immediately to the right of the door and another at the left end of the ridge. A restored inscription on the front wall reads 'DROVERS HOUSE' and includes a Welsh phrase that translates to 'GWAIR-TYMHERUS-PORFA-FLASUS-CWRW-DA-A-GWAL-CYCURUS,' which is a remnant from the era of Welsh drovers.
