Description

The Carbery Guest House is an early 19th century house, altered in the mid-20th century. It is constructed of rendered brick with a slate roof. The main building is two storeys and three bays wide, facing the A30. A lower, two-storey, three-bay wing extends to the rear, with a 20th-century half-octagon projection attached to its side, facing Houghton Lane. The front elevation features a central six-panel door, flanked by glazed panels and an oval fanlight. Either side are tripartite sashes, each with an oval fanlight above. The first floor has three nine-pane sashes. The roof is hipped, with stacks on the hips. The left side of the building has three two-light Gothic casements, above which are sashes. A hip-roofed projection has similar Gothic casements, and the first floor of the rear wing has two smaller casements.
