Description
The Old Three Cups Hotel is a small hotel that originated in the 17th century, was refronted and extended in the 18th century, and altered in the 20th century. It has a timber-frame core that is encased and extended in rendered brick. The building is 1½ storeys high and has five bays, with two additional bays added to the right and a single bay 2-storey hipped wing at the rear, except for the right two bays which feature a longer and wider 19th-century wing. The central bays have 20th-century doors in older frames with flat hoods, while the other bays have 20th-century canted hip-roofed bays. Above these, except for the left bay, are 19th-century gabled dormers with 3-light casements. The roof is half-hipped, with small hips of a higher rear roof rising from the ridge. Inside, the hotel features exposed timber-framing.
