Description
The barn and stables, located 30 yards north-west of Oriel College Farmhouse, date from the 18th century and early 19th century. The barn is positioned at right angles to the roadway, with a narrower stable block extending along the roadside. It features a timber-frame construction with three bays and aisles on three sides, along with central entrances and a Queen post truss. The roof is hipped thatch, with a catslide on the west side and a thatch canopy supported by brackets on either side of the doorway. The barn has boarded walls. The stable block also has a hipped thatch roof. The wall along the roadside next to the barn is boarded, while the eastern half is made of flint, which merges with the boundary wall of the house. On the courtyard side, there are numerous doors and windows, and the walls are boarded.
