3/20 Barn and attached stable block about 30 yards north 31.1.84 of Upper Berrow Farmhouse

Barn and attached stable block. Cl7 and C18 with mid-C20 alterations. Timber- framed on brick plinth; weatherboarded with plain tiled roof. Five framed bays aligned east/west; wagon bays with opposed cart entries and double doors in second and fifth bay from west end. Framing: three panels from sill to wall- plate, long straight braces across lower corners; collar and tie-beam truss at west end with two long struts and lower raking struts; east end and adjacent two trusses are of truncated collar and tie-beam type with raking struts; also two intermediate tie-beam trusses with raking struts; two tiers of trenched purlins. Stable block: adjoins south side of west end bay; C18; timber-framed with brick infill and replacement walling, some weatherboarding and plain tiled roof. Five bays. Single storey. Framing: large rectangular panels from sill to wall-plate; no trusses visible externally. East elevation has five 2-light windows and five doors. Diaper ventilation patterns in south gable end. Interior: mainly tie-beam trusses with raking struts.
