Description
Littleworth Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-18th century and restoration in the mid-20th century. The building is timber-framed with brick and rendered infill on a brick base, featuring brick replacement walling and refacing. The roofs are partly half-hipped and covered with machine tiles. The structure has an L-shaped plan, with the main section consisting of two framed bays aligned east to west. There is a large external chimney with tiled offsets and a detached brick stack at the east gable end, along with a small 20th-century external stack to the north of the west bay. A single framed bay adjoins the north side of the east bay.
The farmhouse is two storeys high with an attic. The framing of the main part includes two rows of square panels at first floor level, with long straight braces in the lower corners. It has a collar and tie-beam truss with two struts and a V-strut in the apex at the east gable end. The north wing features four panels from the sill to the wall-plate and has a truncated collar and tie-beam truss with three struts to the collar, as well as a small strut in each lower corner.
On the north front elevation, the main part has two first floor five-light casements. The gable end of the wing has a three-light ground floor casement, a two-light first floor casement, and an attic light. There are also ground floor and two first floor two-light casements in the angle with the main part. A 20th-century addition on the east side elevation includes a hipped-roofed porch, a two-light casement at the front, and a half-glazed main entrance door with a narrow light on the west side. Additionally, a large 20th-century extension is attached to the west gable end of the main part, continuing the roof ridge. This extension features a lean-to beneath a catslide roof across the entire front elevation, with two three-light casements and a large external chimney at its west gable end.
