Description

A barn and stable, dating to the 17th century with alterations in the mid-19th century. The building is timber-framed with brick infill and some weatherboarding, and has a plain and machine-tiled roof. It consists of four bays aligned north-west to south-east, with a wagon bay towards the north-east end, featuring opposed cart entrances with double doors. The framing includes three panels from sill to wall-plate, and long straight braces in the lower corners. Collar and tie-beam trusses incorporate struts. The south-east gable end features diaper ventilation patterns. Inside, two intermediate tie-beam trusses have raking struts and two tiers of purlins. A 19th-century addition with a catslide roof is attached to the south-west side, adjacent to the bay south-east of the wagon bay. A stable is set into the north-west gable end, with three bays aligned south-west to north-east over two levels. It also has three panels from sill to wall-plate, collar and tie-beam trusses with struts. Brick replacement walling is present at the gable ends, and there's a loft door in the north-east gable end. The stable interior has intermediate tie-beam trusses with raking struts.
