Description
This barn, located immediately northwest of Dagnell End Farmhouse, dates from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of Flemish stretcher bond brick and features a brick dentil eaves cornice. The roof is made of machine tiles and has gabled ends. The barn consists of three bays, with cart entrances on either side of the central bay. Both the north and south fronts have large segmentally arched cart entrances at the center, which are fitted with plank double doors that are rebated into the brickwork and supported by stone quoins in the jambs for the hinges. On either side of these entrances, there are ventilation holes in the brickwork arranged in diamond patterns. The gable ends also have similar diamond pattern ventilation holes, and the east end includes a loft doorway with a segmental arch and plank doors. Inside, the barn features king-post roof trusses with struts.
