Description
The Cartshed, Granary, and Pigsties located immediately north of Dagnell End Farmhouse date from around the mid-19th century. This building is constructed of red brick in Flemish stretcher bond and features Welsh slate roofs with gabled ends and brick dentil eaves cornices. The rectangular cartshed is open at the west end, with a granary above that is accessed via external stairs at the east end. There is a gighouse or cartshed in a lean-to on the north side, which has a doorway on the west end. The pigsties, possibly a slightly later 19th-century addition, are located in a lean-to on the south side and include walled runs. The west front showcases a large wooden bressumer over the cartshed entrance, with a casement window above. The gighouse lean-to on the left features a segmental arch doorway with plank double doors. The pigsties in the lean-to on the south side have round arch doorways and brick-walled pig runs. At the east end, external brick stairs lead to a loft doorway on the first floor, which has a segmental arch and a plank door. Inside, there is a tie-beam roof truss with short struts to the principals.
