Description
This building is a barn and stable dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It features a five-bay barn with a central projecting entrance on the north-east side, and a stable of later date attached at the north end. The barn has a steep hipped roof covered with old tiles and is constructed from red brick in English bond with a high plinth. Although the interior has been modernised for use as a squash court, the Queen Post roof construction remains visible, including a rolled steel joist tie-beam, and there are heavy timber beams within the entrance. The stable is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with a hayloft door located above the entrance. The lower walling of the stable is in header bond, while the upper section is in Monk bond, indicating that it may have been raised from an earlier structure. Additionally, there is an open shed on the north-east side.
