Description
Old Mill Barn, located 600 metres northeast of North Houghton Manor, is an 18th-century barn with later porches. It features a timber-frame structure weatherboarded on a brick plinth, with brick additions and a roof made of old plain tiles and corrugated iron. The barn has five bays, with a cartshed built in front of the right two bays. The centre and centre left bays have projecting porches; the centre porch has double doors and a hipped roof, while the other porch is gabled with a loft door. The left bay has a doorway, and the roof is half-hipped. Inside, there is a combination queen-post and queen-strut roof, with straight braces to the ties. The left bay once contained a mill, which is now mostly dismantled. To the right of the barn, there are early 19th-century cartsheds that contribute to a good farmyard group.
