Description
The Cottage at North Houghton Manor is a late 17th-century cottage that was extended in the late 20th century. It is constructed of flint with moulded brick dressings and features an old plain tile roof, while the additions are made of brick and plain tile. The cottage is one and a half storeys high and consists of two bays, with 20th-century wings added to each end.
The front of the cottage has a plinth with a moulded brick offset, and in the left bay of the older part, there is a door located under a rustic timber porch. To the right of the door, there is a two-light casement window, and in the right bay, there is a three-light casement window. The roof features two two-light hip-roofed dormers, and there are stacks at each end of the original part. The left bay of the added section projects slightly and has a higher roofline, while the two-bay wide wing to the right has a lower ridge-line, both with hipped roofs. Inside the older part, there is a 17th-century stud wall, beams, and brick stacks.
