Description

WEST TYTHERLEY NORTHAW SCHOOL SU 23 SE 1/4 Stable block incorporated into service range 20m 19/2/86 W of Norman Court House GV II

Stable block. Mid C18. Brick, slate roof. Originally built well detached from house, but parallel with (and similar to) flanking service wings of house. 2 storey, 9 bay. Side facing house has 3 blocked wide arches to centre bay, C20 single storey additions in front of end bays. Short 6-pane sashes on 1st floor. 1st floor string. Cornice to parapet with coping. Other side has C20 addition to 3 bays one end. In other bays arched openings with blue imposts, recessed inside 12-pane sash or door and fanlights. On 1st floor 6-pane sashes. 1st floor string, cornice and low parapet, but above cornice in centre pediment with moulded architrave and keyed oculus containing clock. On ridge bell cupola. Hipped roof. Stacks above bays either side of central part.
