Description
The Black Horse Public House is a mid-18th century and 19th-century building located on North Lane in West Tytherley. It is constructed of brick and has a colourwashed finish with an old plain tile roof. The building features a three-bay parallel range that is two stories high, with the far bay of the left-hand range being one and a half stories. There is a two-bay left wing that connects to a larger service building at the back.
On the side of the left-hand range, there are two-light casement windows on each floor of the two bays facing the road. The far bay has a top-lit four-panel door beneath a flat hood at the junction with the wing. The wing includes a wide two-light segmental casement window, a planked door with a segmental head to the left, and a single head casement window further left. The roofs of the main ranges are half-hipped at the road end and hipped at the far end, with stacks located on the left-hand range at the road end and above the door. The wing roof is also hipped, featuring a stack above the door.
Inside the wing, there is a large room that includes a significant fireplace with a carved timber surround, which may date back to the 18th century and likely originates from a larger house.
