Stable Block, Blair, Blair Park

The stable block at Blair Park, dating from the early 19th century, is a two-storey U-shaped structure designed in a castellated style. It features a courtyard with a retaining wall to the north. The south entrance front consists of seven bays and is constructed from coarsely droved rubble with polished dressings, presenting a symmetrical appearance. The entrance bay is slightly wider and taller, adorned with pilaster strips at the corners, and includes a segmental-headed pend beneath two blind quatrefoils and a crest set in an octagonal panel. The flanking wings contain sash windows, with the outer broader bays also slightly advanced. The original glazing consists of 9 and 12 panes throughout. The building has an eaves course, cornice, and flat-capped merlons, topped with a piended slate roof. Inside the courtyard, the walls are harled, featuring a single window above the entrance and stone steps leading to two doors at the angles. The wings include broad segmental-headed carriage entrances, and there are Venetian windows in the gable ends facing north.
