Smithy Cottage East, 2 Blair Smith, Blair Estate, Dalry

Smithy Cottage West, located at 1 Blair Smithy on the Blair Estate in Dalry, is an early 19th century single-storey smithy constructed of painted rubble. The building features margins and rusticated angle pilasters topped with ball finials. It has an off-centre pend with two cottages on each side, each with central doors and flanking Gothick-arched windows in the inner cottages. The window on the right has a blocked door that has been converted into a bipartite window. The cottages in the outer bays have later brick porches and single-bay extensions. The roof is slate, with a piended design at the extensions and porches, and the left porch is adorned with fish-scale slating.
