Description
The Catholic Presbytery, located at 132 High Street, is an early 18th-century building constructed of red brick. It features a wooden cornice and a brick parapet with stepped kneelers at the gable ends, topped by a tiled roof. The structure has two storeys, a basement, and an attic, which includes two hipped dormers. There are five sash windows with flush frames; the upper windows are unbarred, while the ground floor has late 19th-century glazing. The entrance boasts a doorway with engaged columns, a fluted frieze, a modillion cornice, and a rectangular fanlight above a door with six moulded panels. This presbytery is part of a group that includes Nos 120 to 138, the Iron Gates and Overthrow between Nos 132 and 133, and the Roman Catholic Church and Primary School, all of which are of local interest.
