Description
129 High Street is a mid to late 19th-century building constructed of yellow brick with red brick dressings and a prominent heavy brick eaves cornice. It features a slate roof and stands two storeys tall, with two triangular dormers. The front has three windows, with the central ones being arched sashes that include margin lights. A dentil cornice runs above the entire ground floor, which has double carriage doors on the west side. There is also a shop door flanked by pilasters and topped with a rectangular fanlight. The angled bay shop window has five lights and vertical glazing bars only. At the rear, there is a long range made of red brick, with the end two bays rendered, and a tiled roof. This section is also two storeys high and has six windows, featuring modern casements with a gable over one window. The building is part of a group that includes Nos 120 to 138, the Iron Gates and Overthrow between Nos 132 and 133, and the Roman Catholic Church and Primary School, all of which are of local interest.
