Description
Brook Cottage is a cottage dating back to the 17th century, with later alterations and additions in the 19th century. A datestone inscribed "1720, W, RC" indicates work carried out around that time, although the original timber-frame structure is older. The cottage is timber-framed with brick infill, and the front is pebbledashed. It has a thatched roof and is two storeys high, originally with two bays, but with a single-storey addition to the left-hand end. A gabled open porch shelters the front door, which is positioned near the left-hand end. The windows are mainly 19th-century, comprising three-light cast-iron casements on the ground floor and three-light casements above. A raised band runs along the first floor. Brick stacks are located at either end of the roof.
