Description

Milestone at the junction with Nouale Lane, dating from the 18th century. It is made of painted stone and has a square section with a rounded top. The front features remains of incised letters that are now outlined in paint, reading: 'To, RINGWOOD 1¼, ROMSEY, 16, SOUTHAMPTON, 18 MILES'. This milestone is located on the route of the Romsey and Ringwood Turnpike, established in 1758.
