Description

Milestone located 700 meters south of the junction with the A27, dating from the early 19th century. It is made of painted stone and features an attached cast-iron plate. The stone is rectangular with a slightly rounded top. The front of the stone has a rectangular cast-iron plate inscribed with '6 miles TO SOTON, 2 TO ROMSEY'. This milestone is situated on the historic route connecting Whiteparish, Romsey, and Southampton, established in 1755.
