Description
Church Cottages is a row of estate cottages built in the Tudor style around 1879 by W E Nesfield. The cottages feature walls made of red brick in English bond, with the upper walling at the front jettied on brackets and timber-framed, displaying plaster panels with incised patterns and tile-hanging within the gables. Small stepped buttresses are located at each end of the front wall. The cottages have a tile roof with patterned bargeboards and prominent stacks that show a pattern of vertical ribs.
The symmetrical north front is one storey and attic high, with four windows, large side gables, and two gabled dormers. The front casements have small leaded panes, with configurations of 6 x 8 for each of the four-light casements and 6 x 5 above 6 x 7 for the mullion and transom dormers. The doors are plain boarded. At the rear, there are single-storeyed outshots and a separate sanitary block, which is now used for storage.
