Description
Skidmore Cottages is a farmhouse that has been converted into two cottages. It dates back to the 17th century, with an 18th-century addition that creates an L-shaped layout. There is also early 19th-century infilling at the angle and a small 20th-century wing. The building features brick walls constructed in both English and Flemish bond, with a first-floor band on the oldest section and a flush blue first-floor band on the 19th-century part. Some openings are cambered, and there is a deep plinth on the west elevation that includes two cellar doorways. The roof is tiled and has a mix of hipped, half-hipped, and gabled sections, along with hipped dormers. The oldest and newest parts of the building are one storey with an attic and have irregular window arrangements, while the 19th-century block, which forms the south front, is two storeys high. The windows are casements. There is a late 19th-century gabled porch positioned diagonally at the angle, and the other doorways are plain.
