Description

Avon Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 15th century and 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th century and 20th century. It features a cruck timber-frame structure with painted brick infill and a thatched roof. The building is 1½ storeys high and consists of three bays, including a smoke bay and an added hip bay. The front has a plank door located under a swept-down hood at the left-hand side of the second bay from the left. Each bay contains 3-light casements from the 19th or 20th century. The smoke bay is now positioned in the center, with the hip bay on the right-hand side. Above the left-hand bays, there are 2-light eyebrow dormers. The roof is half-hipped on the left and hipped on the right. There is a stable located above the smoke bay and at the right end of the ridge.
