Description
The Old Smithy is a house dating from the 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of brick with a pebbledashed finish and features a thatched roof. The building is two stories high and has three bays, with an additional bay added to the road end, and a wing at the rear that runs along the road.
The front of the house has a half-hipped brick porch located to the road side of the center. In each bay, except for the road bay, there are 1, 2, or 3-light segmental head casements, with 2 or 3-light eyebrow dormers above them. The roof is half-hipped, and there are stacks at each end of the original part of the building. The road end features 2-light segmental head casements on both floors of the gable. The set-back wing has a swept-down verandah supported by posts, with a 2-light casement underneath and a 3-light eyebrow dormer above. The roof of this wing is also half-hipped and includes a stack on the ridge.
