Description
The Old Beams Inn is a public house that dates back to the late 15th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 20th centuries. It features a cruck timber-frame structure with brick infill and has been refronted. The front of the building has been given a false framework and render, topped with a thatched roof. It is 1½ storeys high and consists of three bays, including a smoke bay and an added bay.
The front includes a plank door located under a thatch hood supported by posts in the left-hand bay, and there are windows in the second bay from the right. The smoke bay and the second bay from the left have either one, two, or three-light casements. Above these, there are four eyebrow dormers, likely from the 18th century, featuring two or three lights each. All windows are fitted with leaded lights. The roof is half-hipped, with a stack positioned above the smoke bay and an external stack at the right-hand end. There are significant 20th-century additions to the rear of the building for bars and a restaurant.
