Description
The Kennels is a building from the 18th and 19th centuries, featuring two storeys and an attic. It has a mainly symmetrical facade that has undergone some alterations; originally, it had five windows, but the first floor now has three, with the outer two positioned centrally above a pair of ground-floor windows. The easternmost window of the east side has been replaced by a projecting bay with an angular front that contains three windows. The building has a red tile roof and brick dentil eaves, along with two hipped roof dormers. The red brickwork is laid in Flemish bond and features rubbed arches, with flat arches on the first floor and segmental arches on the ground floor. There is a plinth on each side, and wide flush panels of blue headers extend from the eaves to the plinth on either side of the central doorway. The sashes are in exposed frames, and the side walls of the bay are tile-hung on one side and have a bricknogged frame on the other side, with the area below the cill line also being tile-hung. The doorway is framed solidly and includes a three-light fanlight and a flush-panelled door, all set within a gabled trellis porch. Additionally, there is a single-storeyed eastern wing that features a bricknogged timber-frame and a red tile roof with a hipped end, which concludes with low eaves as an outshot.
