Description

The Wellington Monument, built in 1866, is a free-standing Corinthian column located on a base with three wide steps. It features a modified entablature block that is topped by a statue of the first Duke of Wellington. The monument is constructed from granite, while bronze is used for the statue, the column capital, and the moulding at the base of the column. Lettered panels on the monument indicate the date of its construction.
