Description

Quarry Cottages is a timber-framed house that dates back to the 16th, 17th, and 19th centuries, with modernisation occurring in 1926. Originally built in two phases, each consisting of two bays, it was later converted into two cottages. The building features a wide, symmetrical front facing west and is two storeys high. It has a half-hipped tile roof with tile-fronted gables above the two upper windows. The walls are constructed of red brickwork in English bond, with a cement-covered plinth. The upper wall is raised and built in Flemish bond with blue headers, while each gable end displays exposed framing that is bricknogged, indicating the later raising of the roof. The rear upper wall has stretcher bond brickwork from the last phase above the bricknogged framing. The windows are modern casements. There are two mid-19th century porches with tile roofs and timber framing, featuring corner posts made from old re-used timbers and plain doors.
