Description
The South Barn at Nuthanger Farm is a timber-framed barn dating from around 1600. It has three bays and features a central porch. The roof is a queen post design with clasped purlins and was originally thatched. The barn includes windbraces. This structure is part of a farm group that also includes Nuthanger Farmhouse, a granary on staddle stones located 15 yards south of the farmhouse, and another barn situated 20 yards southeast of the farmhouse. The buildings at Nuthanger Farm are mentioned in the later 20th-century novel, Watership Down.
