Description
Boundary Cottage is a house that was originally two cottages, each with a different front appearance. It dates from the 16th century, 17th century, and late 18th century. The building features timber-framing from multiple periods, with later cladding on the eastern half that aligns with a former projecting wing. An added timber-framed western unit has been integrated, resulting in a single front plane. The cottage has one storey and an attic, with two and a half windows. It has a half-hipped thatch roof, with the eaves raised above two upper windows on the east side.
The east side walls, which are from the late 18th century, are constructed with horizontal flint panels, brick quoins, cambered arches, and a plinth. The west side reveals exposed timber framing from three phases, with plaster and brick infill. The west gable features a brick-nogged frame with a later upper section, while the east gable shows the upper frame above a flint wall, indicating that the front wall was built forward of the original frame. The windows are casements, with older upper lights, and there is a plain doorway with a boarded door.
