Description
Woodside Farmhouse is a timber-framed house dating from the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries, with early 19th and 20th-century additions. It originally comprised three bays and features later external brick walling. A brick west wing was added in the 18th century at the north end, and a more recent wing extends from the south end. The house is one storey with an attic, and the windows are irregularly placed. The roof is tiled and hipped, with a half-hip to the wings and gabled dormers. The brick walling is red, with the oldest sections constructed in English bond, some using Flemish bond with blue headers, and more modern sections in standard English bond. It has a massive internal chimney breast, originally containing a door and staircase on each side, with two attached stacks at the north end. Modern casement windows are fitted. A 19th-century brick porch with an arched entrance and boarded door is attached to the front. Inside, there are original beams, exposed framing to the cross walls, and a slender staircase constructed in the early 19th century.
