Description

Cannon House is a late 16th-century house situated on East Street. The south front displays visible timber framing, while the street-facing facade has been considerably altered. The house extends to three storeys with a half-hipped gable above. It features two windows on the upper floors. The ground floor is plastered, and the front is clad with tiles above. The windows are sash windows, though the glazing bars are missing. There are two bay windows on the ground floor. A cellar with stone walls and ceiling beams is present in the interior. The Victoria County History notes the existence of these interior features. Cannon House forms a group with La Rochelle, Chequer, The Vicarage, and numbers 16 to 19 (consec).
