Description

No 9 East Street is a 2-storey house that dates back to the 18th century. It shares a roof span with the east end of No 15 Market Street, which appears more connected to No 9 than to the west half of No 15. The facade features two windows, with the ground floor made of painted brick and the upper floor hung with tiles. A moulded wooden cornice adds detail to the exterior. The first floor is jettied out, suggesting that the structure behind may be older. The house has a tiled roof and includes a small bay window on the ground floor. The doorway is adorned with thin pilasters and a flat head above, leading to a modern door. No 9, along with Nos 1 to 7 Union Inn and Nos 104 and 104A High Street, forms a group of buildings of architectural interest.
